McDiarmid ask- ing for payment for cemetery prop- erty opened considerable discussion. Alderman Bowman was of the opin- ion that misrepresentations were made to the council at the time of the sale. The secretary, Mr. Robin- son, stated that the agreement had been first proposed" on June 25th. The property was supposed to be twenty acres, exclusive of some fifty lots which had been sold. He stated _ that the city had looked over the land since that time and ie- j ported only about twelve aad a naif acres any good for cemetery pur- poses. Alderman Hatch thought that that would mean omly about seven and a half acres of good land left, excluding those lots that had already been .sold He moved that the city ask Mr. 3Wc- Diarmkl to furnish the council with a detailed statement of all lots sold, and that all funds received for tne sale of lots after the agreement was first entered into should be turned in- to the city when' the propositions of payment would be considered.
