Clerk of the District Court Chambers D9 Thant's body recovered RANGOON (AP) Burmese troops and police hurling tear gas today recovered the body of U Thant, the former United Na- tions secretary-general, from students and Buddhist monks guarding it on the cam- pus of Rangoon University. After five days of inaction, President Ne Win sent securi- ty forces on to the campus three miles outside Rangoon at 2 a.m. They broke through the main gate with a crane, drove back the students and monks with tear gas and broke into the small brick tomb in which the students on Sunday had interred the body of the former international leader. Thant, a political foe of Ne Win and a follower of former premier U Nu, died of cancer in New York Nov. 25. His body was brought to Rangoon Dec. 1 for burial, but thousands of students and monks seized the coffin from the funeral procession Dec. 5 and took it to the university campus. The students said the government, in ordering Thant buried in one of Rangoon's less-important civilian cemeteries, was not showing proper respect to the country's most famous statesman. But foreign observers inter- preted the action as an ex- pression of opposition to Ne Win's authoritarian regime, which has been in power since a military coup 12 years ago. No asylum for Selassie ADDIS ABABA (AP) The new chairman of Ethiopia's ruling military council today ruled out any possibility of letting deposed emperor Haile Selassie seek asylum abroad. Brig.-Gen.
