The examinations were confined to two subjects, composition and arithmetic, although writing was considered a separate subject, the contestants being judgBd on their writing In connection with tho composition paper. Tho examinations were also set by Messrs. McKerrlchor and Morgan, the former an ex-Inspector of schools and the latter once a teacher in the Leth-hrldgo High school, but now an Inspector In this district. These two gentlemen presided at tlio examinations which were held In the Fleetwood school last Friday. The possible number of marks obtainable was 2;i5. When the results were known It was found that Francis Perry had ubtalnod 214, or only LM less than the possible. Her nearest competitor was Just .15 marks behind, while all made excellent sliowlngs.
