Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - December 11, 1973, Lethbridge, Alberta December 1973 THE LETHBRIDQE HERALD Southern Alberta 4-H Club news The Taber and District Council held their annual meeting Nov. 29. The Adam Kallen reported on the foster child. As last year's was no longer eligible we obtained a new name. Sheung Mei is from Hong Kong. The most important business was the election of Brian vice- Frank junior Barbara senior Sandra Adam council Terrie Matz. Adam Kallen reported on the leader's conference in Calgary. A organization meeting for a 4-H dairy club was held in Hillspring at the home of Richard Nov. 22. The elections were held. Heidi Penny Terry Hans Beverly Melanie French. The name Hillspring Chinook Club was chosen by the members. Del Bonita 4-H beef club held a re-organizational meeting October 20 at the Del Bonita school Officers elected are as Darrel vice-presi- Monte Helge- Donna David histor- Kelly club Dianne district Brenda Terry club Charles assistant leaders Ed Albert Perry. Six other advisory board members were elected. Weigh day and weights were discussed. Monthly club meetings were set for the second Saturday of every month. The first regular meeting of the Readymade 4-H Beef Club was held Nov. 7. Impromptu speeches were given by Diane Ernie Joe Calvin Carla and John Lohues. Plans were made for the banquet and it was decided the club will award Stan La Valley and his wife a pla- que for seven years of fine service. Mr. and Mrs. McCann are the new record book markers. We discussed fund raising and decided to have a bottle drive and later on in the a car wash. Record books were dis- tributed and also feed prices were set for the record books. The third regular meeting of the Lethbridge- Coaldale 4-H Beef Club was conducted Nov. 19. Marilyn Kertesz was elected club librarian and Donna Tokariuk as club reporter. The annual Christmas party was set for Dec. 7. The first calf tour will be on Dec. 29 starting at 1 p.m. at Robbie Bodie's. The club will be holding a gate sign contest. Every member family is expected to make a gate sign which will be judged and a prize awarded to the best one. One minute speeches were given by Gary Mary Deanne and George Bohner. The club was honored to have as a guest Garth who gave a very interesting and infor- mative talk en and Physiology of a Beef Animal. He also showed us various parts of the animal on a model and discussed rations' Assistant leader Tracy Dow distributed folders which included our record and project feed- cost and membership cards. The meeting closed with assistant leader Pat Shologan giving us a very helpful demonstration on making a rope halter. A large attendance of interested prize guests and visitors were present at the 13th an- nual awards night of the Del Bonita 4-H Beef club in October. Wesley Rasmussen and Darrel Koskewich shared announcer duties for a program which consisted of a report on the year's ac- a dance by Joy Walburger and Margo a piano duet by Denise and Darlene an accordian duet by Dianne and Judy and reports on provincial selections provincial club week and the Colorado Exchange trip by Terry Powlesland.
