An actor, singer, poet and pro- nounced nonconformist, Francks is-also known by the Indian name Iron Buffalo by the Indians of the Red Pheas- ant Reserve in Saskatchewan, where he frequently resides. Tuesday, D.ec. 8 at p.m. on the CBC television network, Telescope '71 follows Francks, his beautiful black wife L i 1 i, and their baby daughter as they head west from the Sas- katchewan Reserves to the mountains of B.C. in a pilgrim- age of peace and contentment. Talented young film director Colin Smith, and a crew of two, accompanied the Francks family on their journey, cap- turing the beauty of the west- ern landscape and the thoughts and songs of the performer. A man who has tried his hand at many things, Don Francks has always seemed to be just on the verge of big suc- cess.
