It was also decided that the follow, ing institutions should be established in the three western provinces, at points to be .agreed upon, namely, a school for the blind, school for men- .tally children, a hospital for imbeciles, and a sanitarium for pa- tients with nen'ous diseases; these in- stitutions to be used in common by all four western provinces. The Public Domain Another question, which received the consideration of tbe conference was that relating to the restoration of the public domain to the three prairie provinces. Prior to the change in government In Manitoba an effort had been made by the premiers of the three prairie provinces to arrange a basis o.f settlement with the federal authorities, but without success. It waa-agreed at the present conference to again take the matter up, and with this object in view, a fuither commun- ication setting forth the views of the three provinces-was dispatched to Sir Robert Borden. The prevailing opin- ion of the conference was that the set- tlement of this'- outstanding question should be pressed as vigorously as possible. Until the three provinces concerned are in possession of their natural resources, including lands, coal, timber, water, etc.. it cannot that such resources wSll be .developed and util- ized "to their fullest extent. This was' embodied in a resolution, which excellent piano solo Mr. Dennis reviewed briefly the, early settlement cf the Mormon peo- I pie in Southern Ubcrta under such sterling .the district they should be able .to 'raise from S1000 to President Karren as the concluding ''speal'er, assured Mr. Dennis that 'if Majrath raised, a single cent she would raise He stated that if necessary the committee workers would go right -into the homes of the people and solicit subscriptions. He stated there would be no slacking of effort until the promised goal had .been attained. The hat was then passed and a I neat sum was realized. Magrath may be depended upon for her full share and with the -splendid officers 'in charge should make the Garden City a close rival to Lethbridge. The auditorium of the church was filled to overflowing by an audience which was greatly pleased with a program which was full of. musical selections and instrumental' music, with a.- few recitations thrown in.
