Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - August 27, 1971, Lethbridge, Alberta A WARM WELCOME AWAITS YOU HOTEL The LetHbridge Herald TELEVISION GUIDE Burger Baron FOR PICKUP ORDERS Phone 328-4717 FRIDAY, AUGUST 27, 1971 LISTINGS FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 23 TO SEPTEMBER 3, [en stars Sec-rolling deserts, murderous Marillo raiders, the capture nnd tagging of live wiM ani- mals these are just a few of the faced by William Holden and his party during their soairch tor a legendary Garden on Eden in Adven- ture At The Jade Sea to be tele- cast in color on the CTV Tele- vision Network on Monday, September 6, to p.m. MST. As modern man advances across the globe, he leaves hi his wake a wide path of change. But there still remain certain areas of our world that me, as yet, untouched. Between the moisture ridden rain for- ests of Kenya and the murder- ous deserts of Ethiopia lies one Eucli body of water referred to in legend as the Jade Sea. On the map of Africa's Northern Frontier District it is called Lake Rudolf. Along its three hundred mites of shore, the sand retains a heat of 200 de- grees and is whipped by in- stantaneous hurriciin winds in- to bullets that hurl themselves the of volcanic lava with the intensity of ma- chine giinrire. In a moment, the placid turquoise lake can churn and bubble into a deep black, causing great pink clouds of flamingos to rise up and float off to safety across the lush green escarpment. in the midst of Rudolfs fury lie two islands. Created by volcanoes eons ago, they jut out from the Jade Sea in shrouds of black lava, covered with cloud- ed gloom, and mysterious tragedy that has been record- ed in African legend. Such is Lake Rudolf, an oasis protected from encroachment by its own cruel temperament; remaining, Just as it was creat- ed a host that torments even its own kind. It is into this setting that William Holden journeys on a 700 mile camel trek into the little known world of the Jade Sea. Through a dangerous journey, it is not just for tire sake of adventure; it is fox the sake of knowledge and preser- vation and to William Hol- den, an avid game conserva- tionist, an adventure well worth tho risk of lite and limb.
