Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - August 26, 1971, Lethbridge, Alberta .17, 1971 THE IETHBRIDGE HERALD 19 PREMIER BENNETT Socred blasts Bennett VANCOUVER (CP) Dr. Scolt Wallace, who left the So- cial Credit Parly last week to sit in the British Columiba Leg- is 1 a I u r e as an independent member, says Hie administra- tion of Premier W. .C. Bennett is "becoming increasingly un- democratic and dictatorial and perhaps patently dishonest." He made Ihe statement in an article in The Province under his own byline in which lie elab- orated on reasons given earlier for his decision to leave the parly. A practising doctor and mem- ber for tlie Vancouver Island I riding of Oak Bay. Dr. Wallace says "in finally reaching lire de- cision to resign from the Social Credit government, I became convinced that this aping gov- ernment under an aging leader was becoming increasingly un- democratic and dictatorial and perhaps patently dishonest." Mr. Bennelt replied to the charges today, describing Dr. Wallace as "an extreme right- ist." He said Dr. Wallace should not have joined the parly in the first place because it had no place for exijemisls. In the article, Dr. Wallace says British Columbia's political system "is not suited for any person with good intentions who decides to seek elected office in the hope of contributing lo the betterment of society. RULES TOO HHilT) "The rigid rules of the party system arc such that the lirst requirement is blind allegiance to the party and its leader, re- gardless of the wisdom or other- wise o[ party policy and actions. Democratic principles so fre- quently espoused during the election campaigns are not quite so obvious when the gov- ernment gets down lo Ilic actual business of goveifling. Dr. Wallace repeated earlier complaints thai cl no lime had premier W.A.C. Benuclt or any member of the cabinet soi-'ght to involve him in "the very com- plicated and very expensive matter of providing modem health care service's.'1 China under fire MOSCOW (Renter) The So- viet press criticized China on two fronls Wednesday accusing it oC impeding pence and secu- rity in Europe. Ilic Middle East and Indochina and of aliasing its workers at home. The government newspaper Iz.vcstia, in n commentary ap- parently referring to Chinese overtures toward indcpendcnl- imnded R o in a n i a, charged Chinese leaders with alleinpling "to drag certain countries onto Ihcir platform." The article, was one of the j most strongly worded yet in a I recent escalation of Soviet al- lack.s on China ivliich have re- sulted from the announcement of United Stales President Nix- on's visit lo China and the gen- eral Kino-American rapprochc- i menl. "With real-power, licRamonist aims in view, Peking strategists are trying lo hinder as much as possible flip slrmglhcning of sc- cnrily in rairopc and a Middle Kasl settlement to drag out lite war in Indochina, and place oh- slaclcs in Ihe way of improving tile international situnlion and curbing the arms lives- fia .said. Our system makes more sense than diapers everdid. There are two parts. The panty and the diaper. The panty has a front "T" tab to hold the diaper. No pins. No tapes. No fastenings. When the diaper is in pan- 1y snaps snugly on the baby. 2 This pinless diaper is softer. With the panty doing the fastening, we can make babyScott as soft as a diaper really should be. Most diapers can't be all that soft because they have to hold pins. And anything tough enough to pin is tough enough to chafe. babyScott's loo soft to pin, and that's the way we want it. 3 Our exclusive fluffy filler is more absorbent. We said our pinless diaper has been made softer. That's because it has many layers of fluffy .filler material lhat is super absorbent. So much so, in fact, that the moisture is drawn down into the fluffiness and away from your baby's tender skin. This helps prevent diaper rash. The filler is held in a strong yet gentle cover which stays far drier than other diapers. 4 It's safer and gives you complete peace of mind. You may not consider pins dangerous. After all, mothers have been sticking- thumbs (and occasionally babies) for centuries. That's painful but not exactly deadly. We worry more about pins that get swallowed. Eventually 7 every baby figures out how' a safety pin works. And that is frightening. One thing for sure. The safest pin of all is no pin at all. Smell Ihe color pnttion scenled will) Ihe same baby (ale you'll find in bofayScoIl diapers. 5 Life is a little easier for you. For several reasons. First of all, babyScott is completely disposable (even flushable when There's no struggling with the baby. You can have the diaper in place, in the panty before you begin the diaper change. And there are times when that's a blessing. Like when Dad's doing the changing. At three in the morning. Double-diapering's a cinch. And then there's the snap-on fastening. After all, a snap has proven itself on all the baby's other clothes, why not on diapers too? Snap off. Snap on. It couldn't be simpler. You could aclually change baby without putting on the lights. Some nights that'll seem important. 6 You know it's hygienically clean. With a disposable, you know that each diaper is being used for the first and only time. It's purer than cloth could possibly be. There's no soap residue. No question of how completely it was washed. Small point, maybe, but an infant's sensitive skin irritates easily. Why take a chance? 7 The panties wear better and last longer. _ The babyScott panty outperforms the tra- ditional plastic one. It's made of vinyl. It washes easily Odors and stains are easier to remove Less sticking and cracking. And with our system, they're the only panties you need. babyScott 8 Your baby will look better. The snap-on bikini ends diaper droop. The diaper is completely functional and you don't have all that extra cloth hanging down the legs and bunching at the sides. It fits snugly under the baby's tummy and around the hips. The more active your baby gets, the more sense this snug little panty makes And anyhow, there's something about a neaf, clean-looking baby that keeps you feeling better, too. All in allr everything is improved with babyScoH. Odd that no one thought of it before. babyScott comes range of fit all babies.
