Important Announcement To the Wonten of Leitkbridge and District 0 N SATURDAY AFTERNOON we \vit! open our big new store for tusiness and we think it is fitting to present to you as briefly as possible at this time the policy to be followed by this new establishment, the conveniences it will present for the comparison and selection of its various lines, and the advantages it will be able to offer in the buying of dry goods, millinery, and outer and under garments. More than three and a half months ago our buyer went directly to the Eastern wholesale and manufacturing centres to gather together this fall stock, and while many difficulties were looked for in face of pres-* ent market conditions, he has returned well pleased.with the result of his efforts and wdth the certain knowledge, that we will be able to present variety and values better than we have ever done before. This has been made possible by the fullest co-operation of leading wholesalers and manufacturers with whom we have dealt for years, who were good enough to volunteer the advantage of their tremendous buying power and allow us choice of their comprehensive stocks at un-looked for low prices. Referring especially to our stock of general merchandise, every line that was shipped to us for last spring and was in the store at the time of the fire, was replaced at old prices, in other cases where they had ten or a dozen, pieces of old stock and two or three hundred of the same line of new, we were allowed to fill our requirements at the price of the old; in other cases where we wanted certain lines to sell at a certain price and present quotations were prohibitive, prices were lowered to meet our needs; in addition to this we had many lines for spring'delivery, purchased last August, September and October, at prices then prevailing, which had not been delivered up to the time of the fire, but were held over for fall and are now to hand-all marked on the basis of actual cost and selling^ at retail in many cases much less than present wholesale values. ^ Then there Is another factor which we want to Impress upon you and which will have a marked effect in our future policy: our store will be double the size; our stock will be more complete and offer bigger variety of choice than ever before; and while our expenses will only be Increased to the extent of thirty per cent., we expect to do fully sixty per cent, more business; this will bring our proportionate total expense at a much lower level than formerly with the result that we will be able to sell at a closer margin of profit. ^ Every dollar's worth of stock presented for your approval Is fresh and new and right up to the present season's style; our facilities for displaying it and for you to see it will be increased ten fold, not only in the windows, but In the interior as well, where scores of things will be seen to the best advantage on counters and tables that were formerly of necessity hidden.away on the shelves; we have a large airy rest room that is at your disposal at any time and we want you to feel free to take advantage of any conveniences it has to offer whether you are a patron of the store or not; and the same policy of fair dealing, courteous treatmejit, quick service and freedom to look around will characterize the management of this big store In even a fuller sense than in the past. ' ^ ^ We want to express our most cordial thanks to the women of this city and district who have beeiv patrons of Clarke's In the past and to them and the many new friends weexp^ct to make, give the assurance that a frequent and thorough inspection of the various departments of this big store is bound to be to our mutual benefit.
