Family and DIspenilDt Chemlsti Nil-tat' and; No. Night Bell on FrontDqor____ (Continued from Front A Freak Storm The storm appeared to be of a freak atnre, and from Its breaking point in the north small portions of it visited other points. Mr. Blair, of Grantlm, stated that n small district wast cf Cirammi, about six miles long and onfe mile wid-e, was visited, and damage done, although the total will ba very small when compared ro'the total acreage about Grannm. Plneher Jreek district was visited by rain ac- companied by hail, but little or no damage was done. Although the storm was serious, it is expected that when authentic reports come in the loss will not be so great even in thc af- fected districts as has been reported. This is generally the doubt- less it will prove true in this case. While the lose will be large to in- dividual farmers, the total loss whe compared to the totnl acreage under crop in Southern Alberta will small ami will not exceed thu hail acreage of other years. Prom Kipp west, from Coaldaie east and the whole south west portion of the dis- trict, including Magrath, Raymond, Spring 'Cotll-ee and Cardston districts escaped untouched so that five per cent, of the total yield of Southern Alherta would be more than a fair estimate of the total loss. During the storm the precipitation at Lethbriclge was 1.15 inches, bring- ing the total for the month up to 3.S1 Inches and the total for the year to date up over the 16 inch mark. Several of the sewers were blocked by the downpour, and leaks In roofs of several business blocks caused considerable damage to stock. Frache Bros, greenhouse was smash ed and his splendid crop of tomatoes was nearly ruined, although they have saved several tons of green matoees which will be sold as the only crop salvage. Terrill and Co., also had their greenhouse glass all smashed and their stock spoiled. Both firms, however, are proceeding at once to fix up the damages and get in a new stock to carry on business as usual BUSINESS LOCALS THEY ARE HERE, The Chicago Stock Yards Fire pictures, and to- night only, so don't miss seeing then, at ilie Eureka. INCONSISTENCY OFJOHNHERRON Raymond, Aug. with a Herald reporter yesterday, .1. M. f.lendinning, member ot the ture for Xanton, made reference to I John Herron'a position In his I ment to the Pincher Creek Echo, when he said: "I have no hesitation I in saying that if I contest this riding I at all, it will as a Conservative i supporting ,the proposed reciprocity ment." Mr. .Glendlnnlng's ob- ...don was thia, that reciprocity Is l the IESIB, and on it the two great pol- iticSI parties are divided. It would be absurd to.think of a constituency electing a member whom they knew was opposed to the vital Issue of his party. The member for Nanton flaw Inconsistency in Mr. Herron'a alti- tude in the House of Commons thc question of reciprocity was un- der discussion. He thinks It would have been batter If the Macleod mem- ber had urged the party of which he Is fl member to allow the question to be voted on instead of making him self a imity to the obstructionist tac lies of Mr. Bordcn and the Conserva live party. Asked if he intended to take the stump during this campaign, Mr Glennlnnlnf that Dr. Warnoek the Liberal candidate for Macleod was an old friend, and he had offer ed his services In whatever way Dr Warnock wlfhed to use Wm.
