Winnipeg, Aug. 14.-There was nn undiminished demand fov cash wheat today Again holders made few of- ' ferings although there was stiffening of price* for grades below those thut have reached the maximum quotations, j Buyers are beginning to wonder if! there is much of the lfll5 crop avail-1 able for the market. Receipts are growing less daily. Last reports of: interior elevator stocks showed that there were nearly three and one-half: million bushels in sight. It is possible that the most of this has already been; sold. j There was a slight Improved demand J for cash oats today with some inquiry for October delivery. Offerings were , small anil prices easier. Barley was in some demand, but as was the case with other cereals offerings were 1 small. j No. 1 X. W. C. Max was traded in at i October quotation, while the other j grades were unchanged. There were ! but few transactions in the future op- i tions. Price fluctuations were in nar-; row range, for oats but October wheat ! and flax showed a decided weakness.! though the opening quotations were ; higher than yesterday's finish. j Winnipeg casn wheat closed at $2.40 for No. 1 Nor. and No. 2 Nor., and lower grades mostly lc.hiher~ thaffyes-terday. Aug. 13.-The war office has drawn attention to a wastage of food observed in the dispatch by relatives and friends of parcels containing food stuffs to men in the expeditionary forces, and more especially among the distant forces. More than one-half of the parcels containing food stuffs, it is said, arrive quite unfit for consumption, and packages are often lost because they have been insufficiently addressed or where the addresses oan not be located. These are constantly found to roiUain articles such as eggs, butter, sausages, in a varying state of putrefication. Xo. 2 C. W. R7 Extra Xo. 1 Feed Xo. 1 ...... G4 Barlev- No. 3 C.
