Born in Holland on June Mr. Van Staalduine came to Canada in the spring of 1908 and settled on a home- j stead in the Foremost district j in 1910. He 1 a t e r married the I former Miss Jenny Bos in 1913 at Lethbridge. He was a found- ing member of the Burdett Christian Reformed Secretary of the Foremost Mut- ual Telephone Company fcr several and was active in Horticulture and Gladiolus Societies in Medicine Hat and j Lethbridge. He was Honorary i President of the Medicine Hat and District Gladiolus pas t-president of Lethbridge and District Gladiolus and was recently honored with a life membership in the Leth- bridge and District Horticul- tural Society. He was also a member of the Canadian Gladioli Society. Mr. Van Staalduine serv- ed as Police Magistrate at Fore- most and Bow Island for several years. He continued to live on the original homestead until the time of his passing. Prede- ceased by his in 1954 and one brother in Mr. Van Staalduine is survived by six Richard Red Cornelius and Marinus Jr. and all of three daugh- Mrs. A. Rasmus- sen. Medicine Mrs. 0. Foremost and Mrs. G. Ma- three sisters and one brother in also 22 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The funeral ser- vice will be held at p.m. August 4. 1973 in the Burdett Christian R e f o r m ed with Rev. Max Lise of- ficiating. Interment will follow in the Highfield Cemetery.
