The meeting was first addressed by Kev. A. J. Prosser, who carefully .pic- tured to the male audience, his views of the evil, and possible means of its eradication from the city. In consid- erable detail he presented different phases of the Question, dealing with it firsi from a citizen's standpoint Ex tracts from -his address ,are soinewhat- as follows: It is a. citizens' problem, for them and them only, to solve. The houses are not secretly operated, for in no way is any attempt being made to hide the traffic. On the i other 'hand, the City Council 'has by la majority sanctioned the upkeep of the evil. In the second place it is s. menace to the young people of the city. It. affects their morals and' provides for them an opportunity to' waste their money. Above all. Almighty God ihas" put his curse on promiscuous prostitu- tion. Thirdly, it is a disgrace to the city and a poor advertisement. Citizens have a right to demand the eradica1 tion of the evil 'because of. its immor- ality and because of its illegality. The argument of reduction 'by seg- regation seems to fail whqn one con- siders the fact that five houses run at full blast upon the point, with 20 inmates, servants and help not in- 25 cents per insertion when not exceeding 35 words 6 insertions Please Pay in Advance LOST LOST Near station, black pocketbook containing a ticket 10 Toronto, bill and other articles.
