Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - April 27, 1972, Lethbridge, Alberta -Thursday, April 37, 1975 THE IETKBR1DGE HERAID 7 Wheat Pool issues refunds The Alberta Wheat Pool lias lssuc'1 refunds on member pa- tromurc in the 1970-71 crop year. Cheques totalling and ownership reserve state- ments amounting to were mailed to Pool elevator managers for distribution to members. In 1970-71, Alberta Wheat Pool handled more than 120 million bushels of grain and 1C million pounds of forage seeds. Field crops chemical sales also re- sulted in member savings. On the principal grains, the Foot refund is 5.116 cents a bushel, made up of 1.75 cents a bushel in cash and 3.3GB cents a bushel in reserves. On grain bought by the Pool for resale as seed, the refund is four per cent of the dollar value with 1.5 per cent in cash and the balance in re- serves. On members chemical pur- chases from the Pool, the re- fund is two per cent with three- quarters of one per cent in cash and the balance in reserves. Behind cheques and reserve statements are now in the hands of Tool elevator managers for pick-up hy members. Since its inception, Alberta Wheat Pool has returned to members, sav- ings exceeding million. FARM LABOR DOWN1 As recently as 1050, 19 per cent of Canada's labor force was working on farms.
