The amendment to the Al- berta Farm Implement Act, making licensing compulsory, was passed lost year, and the regulation setting out the pro- cedure lor licensing came into effect on Jan. 1, ot this year. The amendment is designed to ensure that dealers provide n continuity of supply in imple- ment parts, and to Rive farmers some assurance ot the finan- cial responsibility of dealers. Financial responsibility is Im- portant iiv (he event of a dis- pute involving the return of an unsatisfactory piece o[ equip- ment. The amendment is also intended to protect farm im- plement dealers against unfair competition. The license costs and ex- pires on Dec. 31 of tlie year in. which it is obtained. Tliis Tee, plus a bond, must be submitted with the license application form. When a firm or a partnership is involved in the dealership, the applicant must provide (lie name and ad- dress of every member of tho firm or partnership. Under the Farm Implement Act, a farm implement dealer Is defined as anyone who sells farm implements or machines which have a retail sale value of or more.
