The gift was made by Pi- casso's widow Jacqueline and his eldest son Paulo in ex- change for tax exemptions on the rest of the estate. But since Picasso's death, courts have ruled that two children born out of wedlock are also legitimate heirs, and they are studying another claim by Maya, Picasso's daughter by Marie Therese Walter Cogniat, however, says the museum's claim is an excuse The real reason, he says, is the Louvre's traditional policy not to permit exhibits of doubtful or mediocre works, even if they reflect the taste of an acknowledged master The donated collection in- cludes recognized masterpieces by Cezanne and Matisse, as well as works signed by Gauguin, Rousseau, Corot, Renoir, Le Nam Courbet and Modigham Cogniat says the suspected fakes are a tropical landscape signed by Gauguin, a Courbet, a Corot and a Lorrain Former film star Former film star Betty Huton pours coffee for Rev.
