Lougheed government under fire EDMONTON (CP) The president of a Calgary based exploration company says free enterprise is being torn apart in Ottawa, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta. Governments have used unthinkable takeovers, controls, coercion and blackmail to erode free enterprise in the resource industries, John Rudolph of Bluemount Resources Ltd. told a Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy meeting The dismal situation appeared to be with the mining industry becoming the next victim of the horror story faced by government Party philosophies in B C and Saskatchewan and the crisis situation created by a minority government in Ottawa provided some excuse lor the actions ot those governments, Mr. Rudolph said. But a contradiction existed between the free enterprise philosophy spouted by Alberta's Progressive Conservative government and what it was actually doing. The Alberta government was destroying free enterprise by using government money to develop natural gas reserves, tearing up tax agreements with the oil industry withm 18 months of making them, investing directly in an oil sands project and proposing to establish a government energy investment corporation.
