Consumers across the country face an increase in the near future. The exact date isn't firm and neither is the amount of the increase which also depends on whether you live east or west of the Ottawa Valley. Guesses are that the increase will be between eight and 10 cents for those west of the three to five cents for those to the east. The increase follows the federal-provincial agreement to increase the wellhead price of Canadian crude oil to a barrel from That obviously is a major in the retail price of gasoline, heating fuel and diesel oil. OTHER COMPONENTS What are all the other cost components that go into the price of gasoline at the service station pump? The oil companies say they can't provide the' figures be- cause they don't know. The problem is that many different products come out of a barrel of crude, and they aren't always the same. So the raw material cost of a gallon of gasoline is one of the items the oil companies say they can't compute. They do use a price for internal they will not this is an artificial figure. They do say that gasoline is one of the more expensive of the products extracted from a barrel of crude. Then there is cost of refining the crude. That's another figure the oil companies say is not available. On top of that there is the cost of administration, advertising, credit and promotion. One guess is that this amounts to 'about four cents a gallon. Then there is a federal tax, a provincial tax which varies from province to province, and a profit for the dealer. Foster appoints Albertans Six southern Albertans have been appointed to special advisory committees to the department of advanced education. Jerome Robbins, of Pincher Creek, was appointed chairman and Marilynne Pauls, of Lethbridge and Don Lewis, of Medicine Hat, were appointed members of the 15- member college affairs advisory committee. Janet Boucher, of Magrath, Inga Marr, of Pincher Creek, and Keith Robin, dean of instruction at the Lethbridge Community College, were named to the 15-member further education advisory committee. Members of the committees are to attend a general conference April to meet with Advanced Education Minister Jim Foster and to explore operational procedures. Service! Project.
