Kt graphic Making taxes less taxing Volunteers help elderly and low income people with returns By SUSAN GOFF Tribune staff writer Tax time can be just that tax ing Filling out those forms can try the patience of anyone Each year local volunteers pro vide free tax assistance through TaxAide a program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and the American Association of Retired Persons This is the 15th year that local volunteers from the AARP will be available to assist local residents are over 60 yearsof people who have low incomes prepare their tax formss year 990local people received help through this free service said program coordinator John Vent Locally 27 volunteers have completed weeklong training from the Internal Revenue Service Vent said Volunteers are trained in completing tax forms and the deductions that seniors and lowincome individuals may be able to take The volunteers will staff sites in Kokomo Russiaville and Greentown beginning Tuesday and continuing until April 15 To schedule an evening appoint ment with a volunteer call 453 0187 any Monday between the hours of 4 and 6 Individuals who are home bound and can not come to one of the sites to receive aid can call 457 4357 4576691 or 453r0187 to receive an appointment for help When coming for a tax session participants should bring All of their W2 forms which report their wages This years tax forms both state and federal These forms should have been mailed to each person if the participant did not received forms the volunteers will have copies of them Any copies of Form 1099 used to report items such as Social Security interest pension divi idends and returned taxes Any other income forms Last years state and federal tax forms Volunteers will have copies of the other forms the participant may tracking their nesses They dont want another Agent said Larry Hennessy diagnosed with vocal cord cancer two years after he returned from duty Hennessy is convinced his Gulf service caused it I think crash which occurred just after midnight according to a report from Howard County Sheriff Department Wises father Robert Wise said this morning that his son was sta ble and was to be moved out of critical care today The report said a 1987 Buick Skyhawk driven by Wise was eastbound on 35 near Road 200 East when he swerved in the roadway crossed the center line and sideswiped a westbound 1992 more than three times the legal limit of intoxication in Indiana Woman dead after accident LOGANSPORT Ind A Walton woman died as a result of injuries sustained in a Friday acci dent near here Jennifer C Eckenboy 24 Walton 2 sustained a skull fracture and was taken to Logansport Memorial Hospital before being taken via Lifeline helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne She died at Saturday It was unclear whether Eckenboy was the passenger or the driver in the onevehicle acci dent according to a news release from Indiana State Polices Peru post Reports said a 1991 Jeep travel ing east on Cass County Road 75 North traveled off the right side of the roadway and then Back onto the road before skidding out of control broadside into two trees north of the road The Jeep then was said to
