staff writer and The Associated Press The weather system local weather observer Robert Wise had said could dump 3 inches of snow on the Kokomo area by today moved further south and east than expected he said Snow fell early this morning in Chicago Des Moines and St Louis and the National Weather Service warned qf a major winter storm approaching the East Coast The storm moving up from the Gulf of Mexico was expected to dump as much as a foot of snow on the Appalachians and create icy road conditions from western North Carolina through southern New England The snow should begin accumu lating this afternoon and grow heavy by Tuesday leaving up to 12 inches in the central Pennsylva nia mountains and four inches of freezing Philadelphia the National Weather Service said But Kokomo wont escape all the white stuff as 1 to 2 inches were expected to fall this after noon arid tonight After a high temperature of 30 today light snow was to begin Tonights low will be 18 Flurries will continue locally Tuesday under cloudy skies The high is expected low will be 20 Snow will return Wednesday afternoon Wise said with of 30 Heavy and drifting snow also was expected today in the Col orado mountains Rain fell in the Pacific Northwest Florida saw thunderstorms and conditions were ripe for tornadoes forecast ers warned Only the Southwest was expected to be sunny Another major Fire Department investigators are still trying to determine how a patient at the facility Fred W Temple suffered secondand thirddegree burns over 50 to 60 percent of his body Dec 17 Temple 71 died Dec 25 in Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis where he was taken for treatment for the burns The Marion County Coroners office listed the cause of death as cardiac and respiratory failure due to severe extensive body He died at Dec 25 according to the coroners Indianapolis attorney Kathy Lucas who works for the law firm representing the nursing center said an investigation continued during the when MGM signed him to a contract and cast him as a gigolo in The Thin which starred William Powell and Myrna Loy Universal signed him for three years and cast him in The Good Hold em Dia mond Jim and other films Dar ryl Zanuck who had newly formed Twentieth Century bor rowed the actor for Clive of Cardinal Richelieu and other films Romero remained at 20th Century Fox for 15 years often making five or six movies a year He appeared with Shirley Tem ple in Wee Willie Winkie and The Little with Sonja Henie in Happy Landing and He was a regular in musicals The Great American Weekend in Springtime in
