Irving couple has stake in Southeast asian crisis tax office Smith school expansions Are approved Irving school trustees approved preliminary plans for the expansion of two buildings the tax office and . Smith school monday night and it is anticipated that bids will be asked on the projects within the next month. The plans were for an 7,100 Square feet addition to the tax office which will almost triple its size and a 4,556 Square feet addition to Smith school which will eliminate the use of the temporary buildings in use at the present. The tax office addition will be made to the North and West sides of the existing building and will be More or less a separate building. Designed by Wright Rich architects of Dallas the Nev addition will contain office space for the schools Busi Ness manager auditor Pur chasing agent and bookkeeper. It also will allow for the expansion of the present to office s real estate department and will have a Large conference room work area and another vault. Architect Joe Rich told is annual staff to meet members of the Irving High school annual staff Are to hold their first meeting of the year tuesday night at 7 30 . At the Home of Valerie Horn at 237 e. Eighth. Posters will be made in preparation for orientation at the meeting and the group will kick off its annual advertising drive. The school Board that the building should meet the school districts space needs for the next to years. With the addition of the 7,100 Square feet the building will now contain Over 10,000 Square feet of floor space. In addition to the building expansion the project Calls for the 40 More parking spaces to the buildings parking lot. Rich said final plans for the building would be ready in about two weeks and construction could begin in a month. The expansion of the building will take approximately six months. A main Entrance to the new addition has been planned for the South Side of the building. The plans for l. A Smith school Call for the addition of two new classrooms a principal s office and general office space a cafeteria and a Kitchen. Hie renovation of the older building and a burned classroom also is included. Architect Robert Wilkinson designed the new addition to Smith which will be located on the South and East Side of the existing Structure. The renovation of the burned classroom and the addition of the two new rooms will bring to six the number of rooms at the school. They will accommodate about 150 students. Wilkinson told the trustees that bids could be asked on the project in about four weeks. The temporary buildings which Are in use at the ache >1 will be retained until the construction is completed. Smith school will be used for children in the first three grades in the Union Bower ares. Tip upper Siree grades attend John a Good school. Dillon wrote of the Friendly people he encountered and the easy atmosphere throughout the entire area. The letter had been written aug. 2. Mrs. Dillon commented a bout the suddenness of the change which was to turn the area into an alerted position of military uneasiness. They Are anxious now to hear Fri other word from their son about the extent of turmoil which surrounds that Region. Capt. Dillon is a civil Engineer officer. His new unit supports the Pacific air forces Acaf Mission of providing Airpower for defense of the United states and its allies in the Pacific area. Mrs. Dillon said her son was very unhappy about not being Able to take his family with him. His wife Mary and six children Are staying in Phoenix Ariz. The Dillons have two other sons in the armed ser a vices. One son Robert is stationed with the army in Germany. The other Arthur is a Navy Pilot stationed in California. Albert Vav. Mrs. Dillon is a member of that schools mothers club. The Dillons have lived in Irving for nine years. Kleiss a member of the news texan staff for the past 18 months has been promoted to display advertising manager. Also announced was the appointment of miss Jody Allen As women a news and feature editor. Miss Allen a recent graduate of Texas tech with a degree in journalism replaces mrs.
