week decided to haul gravel during the coming winter on nine miles of the new Trunk Road start ing at the Gogebic county line and continuing the gravel to Cooks Run east of Basswood The Gogebic coun ty commissioners will gravel the sec tion between Watersmeet and Iron county during the coming winter The Trunk Road will be a genuine through highway early next summer and there will be no other continuous stretch of two hundred and twenty five miles in the northwest as good as the Trunk Road from Ironwood to Menominee And over seventy miles of it is in Gogebic county Dr and Mrs D C Pierpont and son arrived home at noon Wednesday making the journey from Chicago to Ironwood by automobile On the outward trip a month ago they motored over the roads by way of Melien Eau Claire and Menomonie to Chicago Returning they came through Milwaukee Oshkosh Antigo and Watersmeet and said that the best sixtymile piece of highway that they rode over anywhere was that between Watersmeet and Ironwood
