President ban Johnson of the Western league authorized the following statement yesterday a there will be another baseball organisation next year amp rival of the National league and the Western league will be affiliated with it. In fact it will practically be a Western league merged into a National organization. The conditions of baseball Are such at present that a rival organisation is bound to Spring up. And for business reasons the Western league must go in with it the new body will draw lt9 strength from the Western league and propositions hav already been made to its leaders regarding the new organization. I am sorry to see such a state of affairs Spring up. But it has to come and the new organization will soon make its plans Public. The Western league must affiliate itself with the new body or become a part of it for business reasons. We have Learned by bitter experience that the National league can give us nothing. I believe it will be on a Short time before the new body wll make its presence known. It Means the disrupting of the present Western league and amp fight. The present National league will fight any opponents As it has in the poet but the conditions Are such that a fight is bound to Home although i am sorry to see baseball in such a condition a changes to be made. For several weeks there have been vague rumours that a rival baseball league would enter the Field next season but this is the first authoritative announcement of the fact. According to president Johnson the a Trouit will be composed of st Louis Chicago Milwaukee and Detroit in the West and new York Boston. Pittsburg and Philadelphia in the East. The National agreement will be ignored and the reservation Rule so far As the National league is concerned will not be recognised.
