The freethinkers annual convention when and where to be held. Salamanca n. Y., March 7, 84. Or. Monroe the Board directors the Cassadaga Lake free association by a unanimous vote has tendered to the new York state freethinkers association their grounds and buildings located Cassadaga Lake and in which to hold the freethinkers annual convention the 3d, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Days september next free charge. And the executive committee the freethinkers association have accepted the generous offer and the convention will be held at the said time and the said grounds. These grounds As you probably know Are located in a Beautiful Grove the Lake above mentioned and Are fitted up in Fine style. There is erected the grounds an Amphitheater with a seating capacity three thousand people. The seats Are in a Semi Circle one above the other so that All can hear distinctly All that is said from the platform. It is so enclosed and roofed Over that the audience is protected from the i clemency the weather. The grounds Are fenced in so that a proper admission fee can be charged at the Gates and everything is arranged so As to make it a very convenient place to hold a Large Assembly people. There is one decided advantage our association will gain by holding its annual convention at this place. There Are established from nearly every City and Large town in the United states very cheap excursion rates Railroad fare to the great orthodox camping grounds Chautauqua Lake. The Cassadaga grounds Are in the same Vicinity and the freethinkers from All sections the country can Avail themselves these already established Low rates in attending our convention. And another advantage Alonzo Edwards who has charge All the hotels to quote grounds has agreed to Board and Lodge All who May attend the convention for one Dollar per Day. This will save our friends hundreds dollars from what they would have to pay in a Large City. The convention will not be so far from Buffalo but what the Large dailies that City will give full reports its proceedings. And the new York Herald has Given Assurance that it will report the proceedings As it has for the last two years. And now we Hope freethinkers everywhere without regard to their special beliefs will resolve to attend and make this the greatest convention Ever held in this country any other. The new York association will As it has at All its former conventions invite the freethinkers All the states and Canada to meet with them. H. L. Green Sec y n. S. F. A. Scepticism and Gowar Dica. Moses Broyles was pastor the coloured Baptist Church he relieved an immediate financial Atrin fancy the congregation by placing a 2,000 mortgage upon Hia Home Blake Street and if he had lived there a Little doubt he would have been successful in preventing a foreclosure this mortgage which now Falls due in a few Days. At the time his death the Church property was heavily mortgaged and it seems that the congregation have been More interested in protecting it than in saving a shelter for the widow and family the pastor who Laboured with them for nearly a Quarter a Century. It is a questionable matter if . Broyles had a moral right to imperil the family Home even for the Benefit a Church he seems to have loved so Well but it does appear that the congregation can have Little cause for Gnu tuition if the widow and children lose their Home in order that the Church May continue to exist.
