The sum of $18,11327 has been received at the land office in this place during the month of october last a greater amount has doubtless been received at Crawfordsville where the sales Are More brisk and probably not so much at fort Wayne Vincennes and Jeffersonville. Al though we have every wish to see the vacant lands passing off into the lands of individuals yet when we witness vast sums of our circulating medium daily drawn com the state our regard for our own preservation and Prosperity should stimulate us to the most strenuous exertions in fiver of the policy now in agitation of surrendering the unappropriated lands to the states in which they lie. If Congress should however successfully oppose uie claim which the state of Indiana has already presented instead of shrinking from a tie position of duty and Honor tie legis.
