Indianapolis Indiana Jewish Post (Newspaper) - October 9, 1970, Indianapolis, IndianaFriday october 9, 7970 the jewish Post and opinion 3 dream of peace outlined continued from preceding pm and All of a sudden our life is their life and our struggle is their struggle and they Are at one with us. If we had accomplished nothing else but to bring this Unity of jewish people together in this big country and All Over the world where jews May gather without fear that would have been sufficient. This is the source of our strength. This is Why we wont lose wars we must win. If g i forbid we lose Only one War we try again and All this would have crumbled up and every jew everywhere in the world would be on his own for himself and there be that Unity of the jewish people there be that Center around which everything that is jewish everything that is decent everything that is human is expressed. And we struggle and we fight because we have to because we want to live and because we want to be free men and women and because we want our children to grow up free and straight and proud with inspirations not for winning wars and conquests but the desires and ideals of aspirations to build a jewish society that would be a Model of Justice of human decency of brotherhood not Only among ourselves not Only Between us and the jewish people All Over. Primarily Between us and our neighbors. Believe me today yesterday the Day before yesterday since this terrible struggle is going on in an enemy country in Jordan not our Friend. I know that not Only we the israelis Here in the United states As we get the cables and the news feel terrible and we talk among ourselves and we say How terrible it is How Many casualties but i am sure that everyone in Israel i am sure that every single Kibbutz on the Jordan River every one of those that have been shelled Day after Day and night after night look across the River and feel with the people of Jordan deadline notice in order for you to receive your copy of the Indiana jewish Post and opinion earlier in the mail the deadline for receipt of news and advertising has been designated As monday noon. With a Friendly Arab country Syria invading now Jordan with hundreds of tanks As though the tragedy within Jordan was not big enough and Jordan has to fear not us not its so called enemy but its Friendly Arab countries that sit there and wait maybe they can also participate in the destruction of this country maybe add a Little More bloodshed to this tragic people. And we feel with the Jordan people and feel sorry for them the men the women the children and the Camps the refugee Camps. And we want to build in Israel when we talk of peace with our Arab neighbors. We done to think of it As a piece of paper that we will sign and they will add their signature to. We have a dream of peace and we Are sure that this dream As Many of our dreams have come True in the past and so will this dream. It will be a peace of real Good neighbourly relations. It will be a peace of cooperation of Mutual Aid. We want to Cross the Jordan not to fight certainly not to conquer. We want to Cross the Jordan River and together with the jordanian Farmer a who has never had a Day of happiness in his life whose children have never known what it Means to have that which children should enjoy a that the world owes it to them that the people owe it to them just because they were born and brought into this world and to try with our help with our experience to buld there just what we have on our Side. And i am sure that Day will come. If Only if Only there was one Arab Leader of one Arab country that had a dream of this kind there would have been peace a Long time ago. If Only there was one Arab Leader that would see glory in peace and in welfare for his people and not to sacrifice his own people his own youth merely for this great Ideal of killing and destroying. But that Day too will come. It is impossible that forever tens of millions of men women Young and old in the Arab world will agree that All that they have to live for is to raise their children to die in the Battlefield Only to lose another War and lose another War for the glory of the desire to destroy another people. And in the meantime Israel Small what Are we two and a half million now two million eight Twenty two years ago we were 650,000.
