We Felt that if there were any real danger we would be taken care of by the american embassy. We crossed the Mediterranean on an israeli ship and had our first experience with hebrew spoken daily by the israeli sailors and stewards. We landed in Haifa and drove to a settlement for Young people beit Berl. This place very close to the jordanian Border was to be our Home for the next few weeks while we made trips All Over the country. Beit Berl was the Home of a Large group of israeli boys and girls age 18 to 25, native and immigrant who were being educated there. They attended classes and worked in the Fields learning modern agricultural methods. After graduation they would be ready to help build new settlements or help in the established kibbutzim. They were fun Loving liked movies dancing singing parties and picnics. But they never forgot that they were being trained for the Sake of their country and their people. Fortunately there was peace during our visit. Blit Tutlo Bari students were prepared to be called on for Active military service at any time and All of them expected to serve.
