If the institution were dormant then it would rarely break into the news in the Way in which the jewish Community Center has done in the past few weeks. But regardless of this situation this is the week in which the Indianapolis jewish Community celebrates one of the High Marks of its history the dedication of the new jewish Community Center. We wish it were possible to list the people whose vision and Long hours and Days of work brought about the creation of this edifice which will serve the Community not Only of our children but of jewish children yet unborn. This not being possible we will merely pay our respectful tribute to these people and say that their Reward is the building itself which they made from a dream into reality. The revival of the Beneficent work of a jewish Community Center will be More noticeable because the old Center has been practically useless for a number of years. This was shown when the swimming Pool at the new jewish Center was opened. Almost overnight the membership doubled and we were Able to get a taste of what can be done for a Community when its Center functions in the area which it is set up to serve. In this Issue you will see a number of feature articles and the program which has been developed for the Center. It does no to take a Prophet to recognize that jewish life in Indianapolis will be different now than it was before. In another year with the completion of the edifices of Beth Al and the Indianapolis Hebi new congregation the official face of the Indianapolis jewish Community will have been changed radically from what it has been. These changes Are All for the Good and what has been built and is being built will be a Boon to us All. Just As few people today can remember what jewish life in Indianapolis was like when the jewish Community was located largely on the South Side and the communal building was the Center of jewish life so we can to really appreciate the change and its effects at this time. But the transformation will be enormous in every aspect of jewish life and should mean an invigorated jewish Community. So we Salute the jewish Center and its workers and we Salute the Indianapolis jewish Community.
