Indianapolis Dental College (Newspaper) - March 1, 1908, Indianapolis, Indiana Wednesday feb. 5. Miss Lewis delivered her oration in Chapel this morning. Since the primary contest she has been working hard and results of he efforts Point toward a High place in the contest. The yell practice this morning was unusually spirited. The student body was surprised at Chapel when the juniors filed in decked in what professor Allison designated As a new style academic these dunce Caps Quot As the Sophs called them were made up of the 09 class colors yellow and Black. They were Cone shaped hats of yellow which were tied under the Chin with Long bows of Black ribbon. At the Apex of the Cone was another Bow of Black. Leroy w. Beam has been chosen As Delegate for the local chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon to the province Delta convention which will be held at Ohio Wesleyan University Delaware Ohio the i8th of March. Mrs. Mary m. Tracy today celebrated in a quiet and unos Dentious Way her eighty eight birthday. Grandma Tracy has managed a boarding club for Many years and her student boarders both far and near wish that she May celebrate Many More anniversaries. Thursday feb. 6. A great crowd of Frankli nites went to Indianapolis Early this afternoon to be in attendance at the state oratorical contest this evening however every car during the afternoon and evening carried its quote of the contest was reported in the february number Friday feb. 7. Quot dissatisfaction Over the results of the state oratorical held in Indianapolis was frequently heard from students and citizens who attended the affair. The result is so apparently farcical that it is very doubtful whether the College will be a party to the affair another year. The unbiased attendants of Depauw and Butler were loud in their expression of unfairness shown miss Lewis. Or. Jewett the Depauw representative said before the announcement of the judges that if he was Defeated it would be by miss Lewis. Many others expressed the same Star.
