College The Achieve ment Award was presented to him at the annual R O T C re view and awards ceremony The local cadet was singled out for meritorious service to the corps as its Operations Marsh will receive a commission in the Army Reserve next month when he graduates from the Carlisle sohdol He is a member of the Phi Delta fraternity andhas been a Deans List student Others in the picture are Pennsylvania was elected President of the Dairymens Co operative Sales Association at the Organization meeting of the of Directors held May 14 at the Associationoff ices in Pitts burgh Mr Sampson Districi Assistant Treasurer Mar garet McCreery Pittsburgh Sec retary and Assistant Manager Homer H Martz Pittsburgh Mr George A Taylor Pittsburgh was reelected Manager The DCSA is made up of more than 7000 milk producers in West ern Pennsylvania Eastern Ohio and West Virginia They ganized some 43 years ago so that producers would have a voice in the market place Markets now supplied with the greater part of their fluid milk as well as much of the milk used for manufacturing products by members of the As sociation include Pittsburgh Youngstown Greater including Steubenville and East Encyclopedia Britannica Fuel Tanker Truck Victim Near Mine CLINTON Term mite explosion Tuesday night blew up a fuel tanker truck parked near a nonunion coal mine The same truck was struck twice by a hid den riflemans bullets a few hours earlier There were no injuries either time The incidents were among a series of harassing violence since the United Mine Workers Union began trying to organize nonunion mines in the area The UMW says however that it has had nothing to do with violence The truck was blown up as it was parked about 45 miles north west of here near Rosedale in the same general area where a convoy of nonunion coal trucks was ambushed a week ago tonight Paul Ross owner of the truck said it was fired on as it hauled gallons fuel oil to his Double Camp Mining Co stripe mine in the New River section of the coun ty One bullet penetrated the tank and the oil was lost Ross said CAPE CANAVERAL Fla AP About Transport and Teamstersunion members crossed picket lines set up by striking carpenters today in a move de scribed Transport Workers Union spokesman asVia the in terest of national The Carpenters Union which struck Friday at the test center and nearby Patrick Air Force Base in a wage dispute with con tractors gave the Transport and Teamsters members permission to cross their lines to guarc against Interrupting scheduled missile launchings About building tradesmen continued to respect the picket lines thrown up by the 115 strik ing carpenters Missile launchings have not been affected by the walkout Ernest Mitchell Transport Workers union representative saidhis union returned to work in the interest of national de Pan American World Airways which does most maintenance and support work at the missile center employs the Transport and Team sters union members The carpenters are seeking a one year contract with a 25cent an hour pay increase retroactive to April 1 the date the old con tract expired The contractors have offered pay increases total ing 35 cents an hour over a two year period The first 15 cent rajse would not be retroactive The present scale is about an hour Lee Grandsons Widow Dies ASHEVILLE AP Mrs Robert E Lee III widow of a grandson of Confederate Gen Robert E Lee died Tuesday night after a long illness She was 84 Mrs Lee once prominent in Washington circles was a direct descendant of Henry I Middleton first president of the Continental Congress and Arthur Middleton a signer of the Declaration of In dependence She was a granddaughter of Christopher Memminger first sec retary of the Confederacy under Jefferson Davis Star Expecting HOLLYWOOD AP Friends say actress Audrey Hepburn is ex pecting her first child in January Claims UN AntiEmpire PITTSBURGH les Malik president of the Gen eral Assembly of the United Na tions said Tuesday night the UN is strongly anti empire and proindependence There is hardly a colonial question that does not receive the necessary majority in favor of the colonial people said Dr Malik in a lecture at Chat ham College Every people or nation or cul ture has a natural right to inde pendence namely to be and de velop itself in he added This impose upon all peoples and nations and cultures the duty to respect one If they wish to develop them selves and to strengthen their independence Dr Malik added less developed nationsmust re ceive help from more developed nations To cling to independence is to espouse a myth to transcend in dependence is to land in real he said He said the best chance new nations have for maintaining and strengthening their
