Greenland to day The vessel radioed a distress signal saying the en gine room was flooding The ship was identified as the Hans Hedtoff a 288foot vessel The radio message said it had hit an iceberg 470 miles southV southwest of Cape Farewell on the southern tip of Greenland This is an area bordering the Atlantic known as the Labrador Sea The Coast Guard dispatched its cutter Campbell from an ocean weather station about 250 miles away to aid the stricken ship k There was no immediate infor mation as to how many men were aboard the vessel or what type of ship it is The location given is about ITS mijies east of the nearest land the ruggedi Newfoundland coast Frank Lucas Found Dead ThisMorning LOVEJOY Frank A Lucas 83 Lovejoy was found dead at the wheel of his car this morning at It is reported the deceased was on a side road in Lovejoy on his way for drinking water when the car reportedly stuck Mr Lucas apparently got out of his car to examine what was holding the car and upon return ing to the drivers seat collapsed over the wheel of the car He placed his car hi gear and backed a ditch before being stricken Russell Gardner Indiana County Coroner is reportedly continuing his investigation Mr Lucas is survived by his wife Edna Lucas and a son and daughter both living cfulofstate The body was taken to the Mc Cracken Funeral Home in Cherry Tree BLAIRSVILLE More than 200 from a heart attack GLEN CAMPBELL A 38year old Barnesboro man died last evening in Miners Spang ler of injuries received in a strip mining accident near Gipsy earlier in the day Fatally injured in the mishap was Henry Frantz an employe of Weakland Brothers Excavators of Germantowri Death was attributed to multiple fractures of the skull and brain damage Joseph Govekar Cambria Coun ty coroner said Frantz was oper ating a bulldozer at the mine own ed by Maryland Trojan Coal Co and closed since 1954 when he ap parently was struck on the head by a falling object Joseph Labant supervisor at the site said Frarttz was just ap proaching the job on the bulldozer when there was a cracking sound Two spectators called Labants at tention to the fact that Frantz was dropping over the dozer and bleed ing profusely Frantz was carried almost a mile to an ambulance Authorities are not struck Frantz but believe it may havebeen a tree limb Weakland it has been re ported is in the process of rerout ing
