NOVEMBER 22, 1963 Announce Tax Load In Allegan ALLEGAN — This city's share of the Allegan county $4,-593,661.94 tax load for 1963 will be $508,046.57 according to figures released Tuesday by County Clerk. Esther VV Hattinger's office. A p p o r t i o n e d by the county board of supervisors, these taxes will be due and payable in December Overisel tops the list of townships with assessments of $256.-200.89. Saugatuck runs second with $255.568 49 while Way-land's share is third with $192.-646. There is only $8,815.48 difference between Otsego and Plainwell, with Otsego bearing the larger burden. $458,542.09. Regular and extra-voted taxes add up to $2,817,056 82 for Allegan County schools. Tax on the .Juvenile Detention Home sinking fund is $173,-871.30. while the county's share of road upkeep will require $74.-938.53 Comparison of this year's county taxes with those of 1962 reveal a rise of $364,112.28 overall Allegan city's share has increased $66,567.21 from 1962's figure of $441,479.36. According to county treasurer. James Boyce's office, higher Allegan county taxes can be attributed to stepped up construction and increased property values. a former Holland resident, was the speaker for the annual Consecration Week at Northwestern College here recently.
