Announce Tax Load In Allegan
ALLEGAN — This city's share of the Allegan county $4,-593,661.94 tax load for 1963 will be $508,046.57 according to figures released Tuesday by County Clerk. Esther VV Hattinger's office. A p p o r t i o n e d by the county board of supervisors, these taxes will be due and payable in December
Overisel tops the list of townships with assessments of $256.-200.89. Saugatuck runs second with $255.568 49 while Way-land's share is third with $192.-646.
There is only $8,815.48 difference between Otsego and Plainwell, with Otsego bearing the larger burden. $458,542.09.
Regular and extra-voted taxes add up to $2,817,056 82 for Allegan County schools.
Tax on the .Juvenile Detention Home sinking fund is $173,-871.30. while the county's share of road upkeep will require $74.-938.53
Comparison of this year's county taxes with those of 1962 reveal a rise of $364,112.28 overall Allegan city's share has increased $66,567.21 from 1962's figure of $441,479.36.
According to county treasurer. James Boyce's office, higher Allegan county taxes can be attributed to stepped up construction and increased property values.

SAN FRANCISCO (UPI) -Pickles are passe for pregnancy. a noted anthropologist said today.
Speaking before a meeting of the American Anthropological Assn. — which is holding its 62nd annual conference in San Francisco — Dr. Steven Polgar of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America said that in a study he conducted in the Bay area into the eating habits of pregnant women only nine per cent named pickles as their favorite food
Polgar told the group that 30 per cent of the women interviewed named fruit juices as their most popular food while expecting. Meat and fish polled a close second place
He said on a national level pickles ranked in fifth place as the food most craved by pregnant women

Calvin Christian Sets Services
The sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be conducted Sunday at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church by the pastor of the church, the Rev. Garrett H. Stoutmeyer.
“A Question for Communicants" is the subject chosen for the communion meditation to be delivered at the 9:30 a m. service. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bergman and daughter Lisa Evon. who have recently affiliated with the congregation will be publicly welcomed by the pastor before the Communion celebration.

Church activities for the week will be highlighted by the annual Thanksgiving Day Service to be held Thanksgiving morning at 9:30. Rev. Stoutmeyer will deliver the message on Psalm IOO using as his theme: “Full Tables or Full Lives?" The combined Senior and Junior choirs under the direction of Glenn Bareman will sing an arrangement of “Come Ye Thankful People Come." The annual ingathering of special Thanksgiving offerings for designated causes will be received.

Rev. Cook to Conduct Services at Beechwood
The Rev. Allen Cook. Hope College pastor, will conduct both the 9:30 a.rn and 7 p m services Sunday in Beechwood Reformed Church. In the morning his topic is “Grace and Gratitude" and in the evening he will speak on “This Way, Please." The Children's choir will provide special music at the morning service and the Senior choir at night.
