High Point Enterprise (Newspaper) - September 20, 1972, High Point, North Carolina West takes Over no. 1 by Jim Pettit Enterprise sports writer there were seven unbeaten teams going into last fridays area High school football action but now there Are Only to 0.and they collide this week. Ledford 3-0 and West Davidson 4-0 Are the last teams with spotless records As High Point Central Northwest Guilford i Lexington Ragsdale and Asheboro absorbed defeats. The olten Sive and defensive standings also underwent some changes As a result of fridays action. Ragsdale continues to hold on to the no. I scoring spot averaging 37.3 Points per contest but West Davidson has replaced High Point Central As the top defensive unit. The dragons blanked Denton 56-0 to trim their defensive Mark to a stingy 6.0, slightly better than second place Ledford at 6.6. The Bison dropped to third place at 7.0 Points per game. Ledford also holds on to second spot in offence with 33.0 Points per game and West Davidson is in third at 30.5, making this weeks encounter even spicier. Trinity and Central Davidson round out the offensive top five while Lexington and Central Davidson Are fourth and fifth on defense. High Point Andrews last years defensive Champion climbed from Lith to sixth in the standings this week after an impressive defensive performance against Burlington Williams.
