High Point Enterprise (Newspaper) - May 1, 1974, High Point, North Carolina High Point Enterprise a wednesday May i 1974 13a widow trades Home for Drudgery and headaches dear Ann every now and then you rerun a letter because someone thinks it should be repeated not Only for those who did no to see it the first time but for those who saw it and did t pay any attention. I am in the second category and now in a paying the Price for my stupidity. The letter was from a woman who when her husband died moved in with her daughter and son in Law. That widow strangely enough made exactly the same mistake i did. Please. Ann Hunt up the letter and rerun it for those for whom it is not too late. Bless you. A sad and sorry dear sorry Here a the letter and i agree its one that bears repeating. Dear Ann i read the letter from the widow who sold her Lovely House and moved in with her daughter. She wrote a it was the biggest mistake of my life. I am now a guest in somebody else s she a Lucky. I made the same mistake but in a no guest a in a a maid and a laundress a nurse a Gardener a Short order Cook and an answering service. I am not suggesting this is what my daughter and son in Law had in mind when they begged me to move in with them. They were truly concerned that i would be lonely. But you know the old saying Quot the Road to hell is paved with Good i work harder now than i Ever did in my own Home. There Are four children Here and the music is so loud i have three Day headaches. I am under tension constantly because i try so hard to avoid expressing an opinion. In a afraid i might be accused of a taking sides a or a a interfering a the Cardinal sins of old people. It was sheer Folly for me to give up my own Home. If this letter helps just one widow make up her mind it will be Worth the pain i suffered to write it. P. S. Where were you three years ago Ann when i needed you a Sacramento dear Sac i was right Here three years ago giving the same advice. You probably read it but it meant nothing to you because you weren to a widow then and the problem was of no interest. Hindsight has 20-20 vision. Hate that phrase. Here Are a few of the reasons. 1 i. Your relatives think the oldest one is very smart and the youngest one is just Darling. Notice the one who is left out. 2. The oldest kid was allowed to go to the fair by himself. The youngest one was too Young to go by himself so mom asked the neighbors to take him when they took their own kid who. Is his age. Notice again who a got left out. 3. The teachers at school keep wanting to know How come i am not As smart As my older brother. They have also hinted that when my younger brother gets my age he will be smarter than i am. I am fed up with the whole scene and i wish you would help me out by printing my letter. I know you can to change my place in the family but maybe certain people will see my letter and Lay off. Thanks a lot miss Landers. Kid in the Middle dear kid Here a your letter and i certainly Hope a certain people will see it and Lay off. Relatives Are sometimes a Little stupid but teachers should know better than to compare a kid with his brother a older or younger. Good Luck to you in the future.
