Huneycutt made the announcement at the regular monthly meeting of the Thomasville Board of education. Huneycutt told Board members that a Bill renewing the sap act had already passed Congress but that n o companion legislation had been enacted to Supply funds. Noting that this is an election year Huneycutt said it could be months before financing is approved. Original plans called for paying the teacher aides from local funds at the beginning of the term but Huneycutt said this proposal had to be abandoned. Despite the scrapping of the elementary Art program however Art classes will be included at the senior High level on a full time basis for the first time this year. The school Board hired mrs. Camellia Ferguson to fill the position. In other business before the Board Aaron Allred architect for the new Junior High school received approval to proceed with making detailed plans of the building. Board members formally adopted the general layout for the Structure at the meeting wednesday. At the june session the architect presented several alternatives for the buildings design but the Board did not reach a decision on which was Best.
