Group Homes for youths from Ages 5 to 17 Are planned for Manteo Elizabeth City and either Rocky mount or Tarboro. Small Homes for five seriously disturbed children each will be developed in Greenville and Jacksonville. Department officials also announced a therapeutic Camp for emotionally disturbed children will be established in Gatesville with $80,000 in Federal funds. The group Homes Are designed to treat Young people in residential settings so they can attend schools and participate in other Community activities. Residents of the Homes usually have problems which Are not serious enough to require confinement in an institution officials said. Dun Craig Manor which houses seven children became controversial after neighbors in the Southern Pines resort area objected to the Center. The town Council said the Center violated a zoning ordinance and ordered it to move. Constance Baker owner of the 17-acre estate has filed suit in Federal court to Block the eviction. Mental health officials originally agreed to relocate the Center but decided last month to reconsider the decision if the lawsuit is successful. Mountain plane crash kills Pilot Burnsville n. C. The potential for violence and death was present from the moment the armed convicts Frank Gorham and Robert Nathan Jones seized eight hostages and held them at gunpoint in the . District courthouse Cellblock thursday. They demanded Freedom and a flight out of the country in Exchange for Safe release of the hostages.
