Heels from Page in everything around Walker and Gerard and they re both great players. But i did t think about Walker not being in there at the end the Way Gerard was going i did t notice anything in the second half Carolina relied on Short spurts to hold off the hosts. When Gerard propelled Virginia within nine at the 12 31 Mark Elston Jones and Davis quickly made it 63-46. A rare show of balance a Al Drummond Walker and Bob Mckeag a Cut it to 65-55 and then 67-59, and Andy Boninti s free throws made it 67-61 with 6.05 left. The four Corners was called with 4 40 to go and a 69-65 Lead and Kupchak hit Jones for a bucket on the first Possession but Only one Point came out of the next five. A couple of blown one and one opportunities retarded Virginia a bid during that time then Gerard did his behind the Back act a coach told me never to do that until we were 20 ahead a he said and a Fine turnaround shot for 72-60. The tar heels proceeded to Rise to a situation that last years team might not have conquered an exhausted Gerard summed up the problems with playing them a when they shoot from outside like that a he said a there Isnit that much you can do. We thought Elston s Range was about 16 feet but actually its about 20-to-22.1 done to guess we played badly in fact things went pretty Well and this has to be my Best game against somebody As Good As Bobby. But they re just great. That Sall you can Elston 26 Points 12-for-19 and five assists Jones 21,10-for-15, five assists and nine rebounds and Kupchak 18 Points seven for nine and nine rebounds were the main driving forces but something else besides statistics pulled Carolina through Call it the clutch if nothing else.
