Be it remembered that on the 19th Day of october a. D. 1901, there was begun and Holden a special term of the Hon. Commissioners court of deaf Smith county Texas for the purpose of opening the polls and counting the votes cast at an election held oct Ober 5th a. D. 1901, for the purpose of de terming whether or not the Sale of intoxicating liquors shall be prohibited in deaf Smith county Texas at which the Hon. W. B. Boyd county judge was presiding mounts commissioner of Price not no. 2. And Ira Aten commissioner of precinct. No. 3 were present and county clerk f. B. Fuller and Sherd j. T. In Mon were in attendance when the following proceedings were had to a it the court to open the polls a canvass the returns of the said special election which said canvass shows the result of the ballot to be 105 votes for prohibition and 86 votes against prohibition. It appearing that of the total vote cast in deaf Smith county at said election there is a majority of i9 votes for prohibition. We the commissioners court of deaf Smith county therefore declare the result of ballot in the aforesaid election to be 105 votes for and 86 votes against prohibition. It is therefore ordered by this court that the Sale of intoxicating liquors except for the purposes and under the regulations prov died by Law under title 69 of the revised statutes be and the same is prohibited in deaf Smith county Texas until such time As the qualified voters there in May at a Legal election held for that purpose by a majority vote decide otherwise. The foregoing minutes read and approved in open court it is ordered that this court do now stand adjourned. Approved oct. 19th, 1901. W. Bboyce county jump it. Attest f. B. Furler co. Clerk.
