Last Friday evening Hereford Lodge no. 849, f. Amp a. M., held their first meeting under their new charter and District Deputy grand master George f. Morgan of Clarendon installed the following officers w. Ii. Boyd w. Or. R. Johnson . C. L. Davis . Jno. E. Ferguson treas. D. F. Johnson Sec. A. J. Olliver s. D. L. A. Simpson j. A Frank Dyer tiler d. N. Poole chaplain. Invitations were extended to All masons and their families to be present at the installation and a Large number of the friends of the fraternity were witnesses of the impressive ceremony. The Hereford orchestra rendered some pleading musical selections and Short addresses on the history and objects of masonry were Given by d. N. Poole and g. F. Morgan after which All repaired to the spacious dining Parlours of the Humphrey House where a tempting and Bountiful repast was served. That landlord Humphrey spread himself on this occasion will be apparent by a perusal of the following menu which is said to be the most elaborate Ever served in Hereford Fried oysters Fried Chicken baked Turkey with dressing potato salad Salmon salad stewed potatoes with Gravy celery Apple sauce California peaches chocolate cake Caramel cake Lemon cake Cream cake Coffee Tea milk Eastern Star. A ladies Branch of the masonic order organized Friday the officers. Last Friday afternoon District organizer r. W. Lomond of Plainview came Here and organized a subordinate Lodge of the Eastern Star the ladies Branch of the masonic fraternity. After the organization of the Lodge the following officers were elected to Setre during the ensuing year mrs. A. A. Johnson w. F. R. Dyer w. P. Mrs. Metta Oliver a. W. The regular meetings of this new 1 Lodge will be held Friday nights on 1 or before the full in each month. 1 new masonic Temple. The members of the local masonic Lodge who have been holding their meetings in the court House Ever since they have been organized Are quite elated Over their new Temple situated Over the hardware store of Garrison bros., in the Hay Block. And Well they May be. To company with judge w. B. Boyd we paid a visit to their new Lodge rooms and to say that we were surprised is putting it mild. The Assembly room is 24x40 feet in dimensions and has a raised platform on All sides on which comfortable chairs Are placed. A Ante room at the Entrance is at the disposal of prospective candidates. In the front of the Temple Are two spacious office rooms which Are for rent. The masons Are to be congratulated upon their Enterprise in erecting such a pretty Temple. What Beaumont Oil is used for.
