No. 42hereford, deaf Smith county Texas december 6, Itoi $1.50 per year the College a fact an enthusiastic mass meeting of citizens starts the Ball rolling a Small but enthusiastic audience gathered at the i Church House last tuesday evening for the purpose of making a Start toward the raising of funds to build the proposed College. Judge Gough president of the Board of trustees called the meeting to order and stated that the meeting had a three fold object first a certain parcel of land East of town had been designated As a dumping ground for dead animals some time ago but now that portion of the town is being built up and it becomes necessary to remove the carcases and either Burn them or find some other Means of disposing of them. Second some time ago a delegation composed of judge Gough g. R. Jowell f. M. Avis and a. J. Lipscomb was sent to it. Worth to try to secure the location of the Experiment station for which the legislature appropriated a certain sum at this place. In behalf of the delegation judge Gough made a verbal report which showed that the Plains country in general and Hereford and deaf Smith county in particular received some very Good and lasting advertising even if we did not secure the Experiment station. They also were promised that the legislature would appropriate funds for the establishment of three More Experiment stations one of which is to be placed on the Plains. In this connection judge Gough said that when we shall have built our College we would stand next in line for an Experiment station. Third we were assembled for i the purpose of soliciting subscript i tons for the proposed $10,000 Brick i College the details of which All Are familiar with.
