Hereford Reporter (Newspaper) - April 27, 1901, Hereford, Texas Hereford born in october 1898, the town of Hereford. Present population. 700 vol. I. No. To Hereford deaf Smith county Texas april 27, Itoi $1.50 per year e a plea for our Home merchants we would kindly Call the attention of the citizens of Hereford to the fact that our own Home merchants deserve All their patronage. There is hardly a line of business which is not represented in Hereford. Our merchants have gone to great expense in Many cases to provide the Hereford people with the necessary and Many of the luxurious commodities of life. They have built substantial business buildings and thus have helped materially to make the town what it is. They also pay taxes and a yearly License to help meet the expenses of local government. It is they who Are called upon to donate to any act of Charity or to subscribe for a needed improvement. In fact without them the town would Wither away and die. Why should they not then receive All of your patronage is it fair to Send to some outside catch Mem and skin pm store just because they sell one article out of a Hundred a few cents cheaper is it right that you and see what you Are getting and Price the same commodities and you will find that it is not Only cheaper but much More satisfactory in every Way to Trade exclusively with the Home merchant. When you want credit do you write to the said department store and ask them to Send you a Bill of goods on sixty or ninety Days credit by no Means for you know very Well that you would not get it. Your Home merchant however stands ready to give you every accommodation within reason and Many times he gives it to you when a cannot see much chances for Ever getting his pay should you be called suddenly away or have a serious sickness on your hands. Then Why Send your Cash away and give your Home dealer your credit business think this Over you who have been or Are in the habit of buying your goods out of town and if you Are reasonable or fair minded in the least you will henceforth do All your trading at Home.
