Several Good suggestions offered for the improving and beautifying of Hereford Date of the regular monthly meeting changed to the second tuesday of each month at 8 p. M. Tuesday april 9, was the Date of the regular meeting of the Hereford sanitary and improvement society but on account of the session of District court the meeting was postponed until april 16th, when a representative gathering of the members of the society assembled at the court House to transact business and discuss various propositions for the improvement of the town. The meeting was called to order by president l. Gough and Secretary Fuller read the minutes of the last meeting. Several new members were enrolled thus making a total membership of 40. The meeting of april 9th was also the annual meeting at which officers were to be elected but on account of its not being held on that Day it was suggested that to elect officers at another meeting would be unconstitutional and As All of the present incumbents were faithful and hard working officers there was no objection to their holding Over. It is doubtful if any but the present officers would have been elected if an election had been held. A Resolution which was Laid Over at the last meeting was read and voted on being carried unanimously. It was an amendment to the Constitution changing the Date and time of the monthly meeting from tuesday afternoon at j o clock to the second monday evening of each month at 8 of clock. This was thought to be advisable on account of the inability of a number of our business men to be present at the meetings in the afternoon who would be present if the meetings were held out of business hours. Or. Johnson suggested that a committee be appointed from the members of the society to Call upon every owner of property on Dewey Avenue our business thoroughfare and request that they Plant two or More Trees in front of their property and Box them up so As to keep the cattle from pulling them up. Judge Boyd offered As an amendment to the doctors suggestion that the resident property owners be requested to do likewise. A motion to that effect was carried. Or. Johnson also suggested that the executive committee request an audience at the next regular meeting of the commissioners court and ask that body to have Trees planted on the court House grounds and have a Well sunk. This was also deemed a Good suggestion by the society As a motion made to that effect was carried without a dissenting vote. A. J. Lipscomb said that he had some Trees left Over after making his a a Forest on his residence lot just East of the court House which he would donate to the society providing the society would Plant them in the Park. His offer was accepted. President Gough appointed messes. Bounds Vanderburgh and Witherspoon As a committee to provide the society with some kind of an entertainment program at its next regular meeting monday evening May 13, at 8 p. In. The committee appointed at the previous meeting to solicit funds and members for the society were reappointed. The executive committee is requested to meet at the residence of or. R. M. Al so that a Gate and other improvements on the Park were in order. It is expected that these improvements will be provided for at the meeting of the executive committee next monday night. There being no further business to be transacted the meeting was adjourned until its next regular j session monday evening May 13, at 8 of clock at the court House when everyone is cordially invited to be present and assist in up building and beautifying the Banner town of the Plains.
