N.S.. * This Republrck ftill puts a good Face upon the'Matter, * notwkhftanding the late Menaces of the Britilh Cotiful; * and the Report ftill prevails, that (he will ramiiri the ' Spaniards with a Body of 10 or 12000 Men, and a ' Train of Artillery with Warlike Stores anfwerable to foch ' a Corps. . The Report that was fpread of a Treaty be- * tweeri France and the Court of Turin is quite dropt, it ' being now well known that this Report was only defigned * to ferve a prefent Turn. We continue to enlift all De-*~Ter'terslhat" comeTto offer their'Se'rvice"; and the Senate * has cloathed and compleatly equipped 2000 of the fineft ' Men in the Militia, to keep Garrifon in tfeis City. Laft 4 Wednefday 10 Barks arrived here with 200.Sick and * Wounded Soldiers belonging to Count Gage's Aimy, ' which is advancing with .great Diligence towards this '-City, %ooo of his Van Guard having reached the * Suburbs,of Magna laft Night. ", The French are aftembling a Body of zc,ooo Men in ,* the Neighbourhood of Antibes, and according to our lad ' Letters from that Quarter, Marfhal Mafllebois was ex- * pecked at Aix the 10th Inftant. It is eafy -to conclude ' ihaf the Campaign will be opened forthwith ; TjuI it is ' not fo eafy-to determine on whatSide, or which,Place will ' be attacked firft, the Plan of Operations being-kflpt very Tecret.* In the ffleaa Tfr^^ leepv to be^ejy-ea^ in * Regard to a Vifit from the Englifh Fleet: Not bur ft re -* capable of doing us a great^eal-of-M4fehiefr if it were * all to come before this City- 5 but this Danger, has been * provided againft by our new Allies, who will take Ca/8 **V>'keep-Admiral Rowley upon the LoSk-oat after'their the Levant ; but the Four that lay at Vado, and fet .' the fame Day, fleered Weftward ExtraS of a Letter from Cbamberry, May \%,N.S. ' Advices from the French Camp at Barcclonetta, of the \' jjtti Inftant fay, that .all the Troops had received Orders ' to march to Nice.' According to private Letters from .-* Getioa; they ate not without -Apprehenfions from the * Spaniards; and nothwithftanding the good Underiland-' ing between them and the Republick, the latter durft not , * truft them too much. The Fear of the Spaniards at-:'. tempting toJeize upon the City of Genoa, or fomeother ' Place, in their Paffage through the Republick's Territo-' Ties," has prevailed oh the Senate' to order all the lnhabi- * tants, as well as the Troops," to take up Arms; and they have likevvife chofen aDicla'tor to provide for the Safety ' of the Republick, in this ticklifh Conjun&ure. We * "hea'Fby Letters from Marfeilles of the i 3th Inftant, that ' 33 Englifh Men of War are arrived on the Coaft of Pro- * verice. v Yeflerday arrived an Exprefs from Briftol, difpatched I from thence on Thurfday lall, with an Account, that Capti Walker, of the Bofcawen Privateer ; and Capt. Leitouriere, 150 6 28 Brule, 280 18 65 Fromentine, 250 14 43 Gautier, ' 200 14 46 Barthome, 300 18 84 There were three Veffels more in Company, one of which call'd the Jeune Maria, of 240 Tons, 14 Guns, and 64 Men, was funk, and only 17 of her Crew were fav'd ; one Brigantine, and a Sloop, both which got off. They are all from'Martinico, laden with Sugar, Coffee, Cotton, Sic. and are all reckon'd rich.-They left Martinico the 15th of April, and the Engagement happen'd the 24th of May. We hear, that the Draught made on Thurfday lall from the three Regiments of Guards, will embark this Day for Flanders. The're is an Account by way of Ireland, (from the Arrival of a Ship at Kin'fale) that there been an Engagement in Italy, greatly to the-Advantage of Prince Lobkowitz, who had, as is faid, totally routed the Spaniih Army.- But we apprehend it to be of a-piece with the fecond Engagement in Flanders, fo induftriouily fpread in London on Wednefday" laft. ilefterday the Honourable Sir WiNiWsta^oVe.Jmd ' hiscttew married Lady fcrput for" Aeir^oufer kfetcr%m ill Surry.
