Arrived this Morning from Newcaftle the Mary and Alice ; and the Ifabella, both for Portfmouth. Wind S.byE. LONDON. Orders are iflued out from the War-Office for putting ferthwih aH the Forts, Caltles, Havens, &c. into a Pof-iure of Defence. It was reported laft Night that an Exprefs was arrived with an Account, that Oilend had iurrendered to the French. The Prizes mention'd to have been brought into Plymouth, by Admiral Martin, are The Panther, a French Man of War, of 24 Guns and 160 Men, taktn on the 24th of July by his Majelty's Snip the Monmouth, Cape Harrifon. The St. Paul, Capt. Jappie, bound from St. Domingo to Rochel, taken by the Fleer. And A Privateer, of eight Carriage and four Swivel Guns, who was a!(o taken by the Fleet. The Eag'e Privateer, Capt. Bazely, failed from Dover on WeJneltlay lair, and return'd on Thuriday with a large Cutter from France, with a valuable Cargoe of 1 ea and Brandy on bo ird. On the 12th Inlhnt the Rochefie- Privateer Capt. Ctck-bjrne, failed from iJuiouth, on a* Cruize. Latt Tuefday the I'age Tender, aflilied by a Cufrom-boule Sloop, feiz-jd off Dungends, a Smuggling Cutter, laden with Brandy, which they have lent to London.
