According to the Cralle report a study made of the Airport last year the Eastern 2.500 feet of the runway should he abandoned and the remaining 3.500 feet used for a taxiway. This report was the basis of a $67,000 Grant made to the Airport by the Faa last month. However the Faa has now ruled that the runway must stay open this makes the legality of the use of the Grant Money questionable. For this reason the Airport commission has not made Public the letter from the Faa. Or. M l. The Grant was obtained on the basis that the runways East 2.500 feet would be abandoned now the Faa has forbidden that abandonment. Whether or not a new Golf course plan can he evolved is up to the City Council Ross said he said the committee will go the the Council next week and ask what action should now be taken. Ross noted however that there is land available on the West Side of the Airport. A a maybe it can be used a he said. Ross plan called for the construction of a new championship course to he financed through a Bond Issue. The Bonds would he paid off through the Sale of the old course at 61st Street and seawall Boulevard. This plan had the added attraction of putting a Large tract of City owned land on the tax Rolls. Bonds which financed the old course will be paid off by duly i. Only $3.mx is now owed on them.
