Covell admitted the larceny, which occurred at the Savage residence on Meadowlark Drive on July A scheduled jury trial was dismissed Thursday when prosecutor Mary Ann Stepler dismissed charges against Garland Bledford Burton, 33, when Stepler indicated the state lacked evidence to proceed with the trial. Michael P. Salima of Poplar Street was convicted and sentenced Thursday by District Court Judge William Wenner who indicated Salima had several previous speeding convictions and had received "and obliviously ignored" a course at the driver rehabilitation pro- gram. Salima was arrested by a state police radar operator and charged with driving 14 miles per hour over the 25 mph limit. Cpl. W. Long had established a col- lateral on the speeding arrest. In other cases heard by Judge Wen- ner, Mark Anthony Hotgi, 19, Walkers- ville, was fined on three violations of the state traffic laws. Hotgi admitted having an inadequate muffler and driv- ing an unregistered vehicle but denied failure to yield the right of way when making a right turn on a red light. Hotgi contended a westbound vehicle on Patrick Street changed lanes in the intersection with Bentz Street as he was making his right turn from Bentz to Patrick. Hotgi was arrested by Pvt. Chase. Judge Wenner indicated Hotgi took away the westbound vehicle's right-of-way by entering the boulevard. Noting Hotgi's previous conviction for driving the same unregistered vehicle. Judge Wenner fined Hotgi plus for inadequate muffler since Hotgi said he had been carrying his replacement muffler for at least four days, and for the right of way violation. Edward Summers was re- turned to the alcohol treatment center at the veteran's hospital in Martinsburg pending completion of a presentencing report. Summers was convicted of in- decent exposure by urinating on the sidewalk in the 300 block of North Market Street. Defense attorney David Yinger indicated his client was highly intoxicated and didn't know what he was doing when arrested by police. Edward Can- of Balti- more was granted probation before judgment on a charge of exceeding the 55 mph limit on 1-70 with a top speed of 72 mph. His attorney Richard Winters indicated it was Carr's first conviction on his 15-year driving record. Gene Mason, Walkersville, was given a suspended fine for spinn- ing wheels while turning a corner in Walkersville. He contended his car had mechanical problems. Tpr. Charles Keller said he ordered the car towed to a garage to check out the alleged pro- blems. George Dorsey NEW YORK STATE DAIRY COWS 3 miles south of Woodsboro on Coppermine Road.
