Livine 8ton Howland master appointed to take depositions and evidence in the contested election Case Shanks is Neff for the seat in Congre a from the ninth congressional District began the work and wiil Cor c Ude it to Day. As our readers 3tnow the notice contest must be filed by the contestant within the next thirty Days after the contested has received his certificate election then the contested must file his answer denying admitting each and every allegation in the notice contest within the next thirty Days after the Date serving the contestant s notice upon him. Gen Shanks filed his notice contest the 13th december last and up to the present time . Neff has made no answer thus tacitly admitting All the general s allegations. I. Neff is now out the Case in one sense and when the depositions Are forwarded to the House representatives general Shanks will undoubtedly gain his seat . Neff making no defense. These gentlemen last named testified merely to the authenticity the returns election from Adams county. This morning governor Hendricks will be examined which will close the evidence for general Shanks who is represented by James w. Templer Muncie in the examination. They complain that they Are not furnished the facilities they need for transportation. The statement was made at the meeting that nearly 13,000,000 feet lumber is now at local Mills waiting for transportation that cannot be had.
