A the voice of the Blue whale largest known living animal carries 100 Miles under water a and hits a pitch of Middle c on the musical scale Navy scientists report. The scientists who made a six week study of the whales Are riot sure what the sounds mean say they could be a simple of communication. The sounds began at regular 100- Ond intervals. The scientists found two kinds of outcries. Both lasted 37 seconds but one had a two second break and the other was broken i twice. Or. William c. Cummings a senior scientist at the naval undersea research and develop ment Center detailed monday the findings of a expedition to study the Blue whale sounds. The study was financed by the the National science foundation. The scientists studied four 75 foot Blue whales near guano is land Southwest of Chile.
