The bulldogs wore a champions last year and Berkeley was lower state runner to Lalta in can s b. Georgetown gave the locals plenty of trouble in a game earlier this season and Clover pc under lond is no weak Sis Ter. Florence if it Hopes to win the invitational will have to play much better than it has to Dale. The main trouble with the Yel Low jackets it seems is the in ability to be consistent. But the jackets have improved greatly since the first of the season acid Afler the win Over Georgetown Simmons seemed pleased for the first time. We think the jackets have an out Side Chance to cop the tourney championship but Camden and Spartanburg must be rated Aseo favo riles. To first game will Sec Camden and Georgetown clash ing at 3 thursday afternoon in the new Mcclenaghan gymnasium. Spartanburg and Clover Fol Low at Rock Hill and sum Ter vie at and Florence tackles Berkeley at 9. Florence if it wins Over Berkeley would lace the Rock Hill Sumler Winner at 9 the Fol lowing night. Should the locals pass obstacle then they would find themselves playing for the championship against either Camden Georgetown Spartanburg or Clover. It will be a Tough Job. Simmons and Jayvee coach Bob Bell took 15 players with the financial help of local Busi Nesses and the yellow jacket boosters club to the Dixie classic tournament at Raleigh and. Should learn a lot while there. The Florence boys have been practising daily at the Myca there and undoubtedly will re turn All the better Afler seeing some of the nation s Best play ers and teams in action. Second on the sports Agenda in 95fi is the pee Dee boxing tournament. The event is scheduled to come off in the National guard armory Jan. 8, 9, and 10 with plenty of action on All three nights club boxing club chairman Marion Galloway As sures thai the local team has a Good Chance of taking the even again but he promises in will involve All of the boys put Ling out their Best. Galloway says the Darlington team is a Good one and could Surprise a lot of people what the Darlin lonians need. Now. He says is some wholehearted sup port from civic minded citizens. The tournament is a worthy one and the proceeds go for helping in youth activity work in the pee. Dee area. Teams that will probably enter Are King Strcic. Sumter. Darling Ion Myrtle Beach Scis and Florence. Scis and Kingsl rce Are both Strong. The Scis boys coached by Grady Decell. Arc noted for their spirit and will be contenders All the Way. Third.
