C., dec. 28. Last year we had 27 boys from Florence who played which was the largest group from any town in the tourney s history. We Hope not to fall too far behind this year. The school team has been work ing hard this year and looks As if we will have a better than average season. Our two victories Over Bennettsville the last couple of weeks were very impressive. I believe Florence and Bennettsville have More school boys on their Golf squads than any other two towns in the state. In a few years both schools will have wonderful teams. We had our first dogfights last week and it appears from Here that Many of our Handicap prob lems will be solved. After a golfers meeting earlier this month it was decided to play competitive tournaments on wednesdays saturdays and sundays so that a person could play with any group on a Handi Cap basis. Dogfights on a Par rating against your Handicap determines the num Ber of Points a foursome or three some must pull to get even. For example my Handicap is Zero. Zero front 18 leaves me minus 18 to do my part in a group 1 have to shoot an even Par. Points Are credited with three for an Eagle two for a Bird and one for Par bogeys do not count for or against to j. A double bogey takes a Point and triple bogeys or More take two Points away. The team that plays nearest to its Handicap will win. Yesterday was the first time that a team came Back even. It was decided also at the meeting that we would meet once each month at the club with any golfing member or his guest invited. These meetings should prove beneficial to All Golf films and discussions will highlight most of the meetings. Our next meeting will be held during the latter part of january. A press radio to Golf tournament opens today and continues Nowr Row at the Florence country Clute. With some 20 employees of the once morning news radio stations we my and Wols and Community television expected to compete. Entrants May play either Day and have their Choice of nine or 18 holes. However each contestant must Plav with another entry. The Calloway Handicap system will be used in order to give All players an equal Chance. Trophies will be presented to the winners in the nine Hole and 18-Hole divisions.
